DEKA Synchro HP

The Synchro HP Platform is a multi-source laser and pulsed light workstation made by El.En., the Italian group behind the DEKA brand. The FDA cleared it under K082039 on March 20, 2009. The 510(k) summary describes a long pulse 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser inside the console, along with three kinds of hand-held sources: several pulsed light handpieces covering 400 to 950 nm, an Er:YAG laser handpiece at 2940 nm, and a Q-switched Nd:YAG handpiece at 1064 nm. The summary lists a weight of 170 kg, a cabinet of 115 by 53 by 106 cm, and a single-phase 230 V supply rated at 32 A.

Each source has its own indications. The long pulse Nd:YAG covers hair reduction on Fitzpatrick types I to VI and photocoagulation of vascular and pigmented lesions. The Er:YAG attachment covers resurfacing and soft tissue ablation, and the Q-switched attachment covers dark tattoos and benign pigmented lesions. The pulsed light filters start at 400, 500, 520, 550 and 650 nm, each matched to indications from acne to vascular lesions to hair reduction.

Other El.En. platforms also use the Synchro name, so sellers sometimes mix them up. The Synchro FT, cleared under K103288 in 2011, pairs a long pulse Nd:YAG module with an FT pulsed light handpiece that has five filters. It weighs 65 kg and needs only a 16 A supply. The Synchro REPLA:Y family, cleared in 2013 and 2015, adds a 755 nm alexandrite head next to the Nd:YAG and delivers both through a replaceable fiber. The HP has no alexandrite source.

A buyer will ask which attachments come with the console, since each handpiece adds capability. Expect questions about pulse counts on the pulsed light handpieces, the condition of the Er:YAG and Q-switched heads, the service history, and whether a local DEKA distributor still supports this generation.
