DEKA SmartXide DOT

SmartXide DOT refers to DEKA's early SmartXide CO2 laser fitted with the DOT scanner for fractional resurfacing. The FDA cleared the El.En. Smart CO2 lasers, sold as SmartXide and Smart US20D, with the DOT scanner under K072159 on December 27, 2007. The summary describes a sealed CO2 gas tube emitting at 10.6 µm, footswitch activation, an overall weight of 30 kg, dimensions of 120 by 48 by 55 cm and a 115 VAC single phase supply. The scanning unit is cleared for ablative skin resurfacing.

DEKA's later brochures still list DOT Therapy as an application. On DEKA's later HiScan DOT scanners the operator sets dwell time, DOT spacing and a SmartStack level that repeats pulses on the same spot. A buyer will check what the scanner on an older unit actually offers.

Several later SmartXide models share the name, which is where sellers get confused. The SmartXide2, cleared in February 2013, paired an 80 W CO2 source with an optional 940 or 980 nm diode laser, and a 60 W SmartXide2 version followed in 2014. The SmartXide Touch, cleared in November 2017, is a 40 W CO2 system with a HiScan DOT+ scanner, and the SmartXide Punto, cleared in 2018, comes in 30 W and 50 W versions. DEKA's Touch and Punto brochures describe an RF CO2 source with PSD pulse shaping and a weight of 62 kg, about twice the 30 kg listed for the 2007 system. A lighter cabinet and a label reading SmartXide or Smart US20D point to the original.

Units from this generation are well over a decade old, so service history matters. Buyers will want to know when the CO2 tube was last serviced or replaced, what output the laser reaches at full power, and whether the DOT scanner and its cable are original. Photograph the serial label with the manufacturing date, the control panel and the scanner head.
