DEKA Motus AY

The DEKA Motus AY is a dual wavelength laser from El.En. that pairs a 755 nm alexandrite source with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG source in one cabinet. The FDA cleared it under K181486 on August 30, 2018, naming the alexandrite only Motus AX as a reference device. At 755 nm it is cleared for hair reduction on Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI, benign pigmented lesions, wrinkles and benign vascular lesions. The 1064 nm side adds pseudofolliculitis barbae and red pigmentation in hypertrophic and keloid scars, among others.

Energy travels through a replaceable fiber to quick release handpieces the console recognizes electronically. The clearance lists spot sizes of 2.5, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 20 mm at both wavelengths. The handpiece most tied to the Motus name is Moveo, a contact handpiece with a cooled 20 mm sapphire tip that is glided over the skin in repeated passes instead of being fired in single stamps. DEKA's international brochure lists Moveo HR for hair removal and Moveo PL for pigmented lesions as AY options.

Three Motus generations look alike at a glance. The AX has only the 755 nm source. The Motus AZ, cleared in July 2021 with the AY as its predicate, kept the same wavelengths and fluence but has a restyled chassis and interface, weighs about 100 kg against roughly 90 kg for the AY, and stands 114 cm tall compared with 95 cm. Its Moveo also comes in 7 and 14 mm spots, where the AY clearance lists only 14 mm.

A dealer pricing an AY will want every handpiece named, each Moveo included, and the condition of the sapphire tips and the delivery fiber described. Have the service records ready with the software version and a screen photo of any usage counters. The AY needs 230 V single phase power on a 16 A breaker.
