See what it's worth

Glide is a DEKA carbon dioxide laser emitting at 10,600 nm, which DEKA presents as its newest CO2 platform. DEKA offers it in two forms. The dermatology version, listed under DEKA Aesthetics, is aimed at photorejuvenation, skin surgery and scars, including the neck, decolletage and the area around the eyes. The gynecology version, listed under DEKA Intimate, is built around vulvovaginal treatments such as MonaLisa Touch and can take an optional micro scanner for aesthetic and dermatological surgery work.

DEKA's Pulse Shape Design gives the operator five emission modes: S-Pulse, D-Pulse, H-Pulse, U-Pulse and continuous wave. SmartStack fires one to five pulses on each dot, and Scattered mode distributes dots evenly while fading them at the edges of the scan. On the dermatology side DEKA lists three scanners: the µ-scan DOT for fractional or traditional resurfacing, the µ-Scar 3 for deep scars, and the Derma Scan, which works with 4 inch and 7 inch focus handpieces. The Eyelide PRO eyelid procedure uses the HP pulse with a 2 inch Slimcut handpiece. Gynecology units carry the µ-Scan V2LR scanner with interchangeable probes and the ColpoScan accessory for colposcope mounted work.

The closest relative is DUOGlide, which uses the same scanners and pulse modes but adds a 1540 nm source. If the label or startup screen shows only 10,600 nm, the unit is a Glide. HELIX, another DEKA CO2 system, adds a 1570 nm fiber laser and uses differently named scanners, the MATRIX DOT and SCAR 3 PRO. The openFDA 510(k) database lists no DEKA clearance under the Glide name, so a US buyer will ask about the regulatory history of the unit.

When listing a Glide, state whether it is the dermatology or gynecology configuration and name every scanner, probe and handpiece included. Buyers will check the scanner optics, the handpiece lenses and the service history of the CO2 source, and will want the software version. Photograph the serial label, the startup screen and each accessory.
