DEKA LipoAI

LipoAI is a DEKA laser for laser assisted lipolysis, a minimally invasive procedure in which a fiber is inserted under the skin through a small cannula. Its source is a short pulse Nd:YAG laser emitting at 1444 nm. The FDA cleared the DEKA LIPOAI under K212270 on October 21, 2021, for incision, excision, vaporization, ablation and coagulation of soft tissue and for laser assisted lipolysis. Cartessa Aesthetics introduced it to its customers at a user forum in Scottsdale, Arizona, in October 2022, calling it the company's first minimally invasive device.

The clearance summary gives a maximum pulse energy of 300 mJ, pulses up to 100 µs, repetition rates of 5 to 40 Hz and 12 W maximum output, delivered through a 600 µm fiber protected by a stainless steel cannula no wider than 1.4 mm. Emission is by footswitch, the aiming beam is red and green, and the supply is 200 to 240 V single phase at up to 3200 VA. DEKA lists three accessories: a handpiece with an embedded accelerometer that tracks the surgeon's movement, a Thermal Guide cannula with a sensor that pauses emission when a preset subdermal temperature is reached, and a PLUS handpiece that delivers pulsed air massage after the procedure. Cartessa calls the software's predictive energy control AI Mode.

The predicate was the Lutronic AccuSculpt II, which the FDA summary shows with the same 1444 nm wavelength, pulse energy, pulse width, repetition rate and output power. The red and green aiming beam is the listed difference. On a used system, the DEKA LIPOAI name and model M131A1, as recorded in AccessGUDID, identify it.

Because this is a surgical device, buyers check the delivery accessories closely. List every fiber and cannula with its length, say whether the Thermal Guide sensor and accelerometer handpiece are present and working, and include the PLUS handpiece and footswitch. Provide the service history and software version, and photograph the serial label and touch screen.
