See what it's worth

Onda is DEKA's body contouring system built on Coolwaves, the company's name for its 2.45 GHz microwave energy. It is not a laser. DEKA lists localized fat, cellulite and skin laxity as its applications, and the brochure describes the handpieces directing microwaves into the subcutaneous fat layer while contact cooling built into each handpiece offsets heating at the skin surface. Cartessa Aesthetics states that Coolwaves technology was first introduced in 2018.

The original Onda comes with two handpieces that differ by depth. Deep is intended for localized fat and is listed with a 1.2 cm depth of action. Shallow, listed at 0.7 cm, is intended for cellulite, skin laxity and submental fat. DEKA's specification sheet gives power up to 200 W, fingerswitch emission control, an integrated tutorial with treatment protocols, a cabinet of 110 by 40 by 70 cm weighing 60 kg, and a supply rating of 100 to 240 VAC at 1500 VA.

The newer Onda PRO is the model most likely to be confused with it. DEKA launched Onda PRO at the World Congress of Dermatology in Singapore in July 2023, and Cartessa announced it for the United States and Canada in April 2026. Onda PRO adds a third handpiece, Pocket, aimed at the face with a 3 mm focal depth, alongside Deep and Shallow handpieces. A system with a Pocket handpiece is therefore a PRO, while an original Onda has only Deep and Shallow. The original Onda brochure is marked as not intended for the US market, so US buyers will ask where a unit was sold and what regulatory paperwork came with it.

A buyer will want both handpieces, their cables and the cooling circuit inside each one checked, since that cooling protects the skin surface during treatment. Note any cracks in the housings. Provide the service history and the software version, and photograph the serial label, the main screen and both handpiece labels.
