DEKA Motus AZ

The Motus AZ is the single wavelength alexandrite model in DEKA's later Motus generation, emitting at 755 nm. DEKA's own page lists only the alexandrite source and pairs it with two Moveo handpieces, HR for hair removal and PL for pigmented lesions, plus ten standard handpieces with 5 to 20 mm spots, automatic spot recognition and a connector for external air cooling. AccessGUDID agrees: its DEKA MOTUS AZ record, model M130B1, describes an alexandrite 755 nm device, while the separate DEKA MOTUS AZ+ record, model M130A1, adds a 1064 nm Nd:YAG source.

The naming in the US clearance is easy to misread. The FDA cleared a device called DEKA Motus AZ under K211821 on July 6, 2021, but that clearance covers both the alexandrite and Nd:YAG sources. It names the Motus AY as predicate and lists a restyled chassis and interface, about 100 kg weight against roughly 90 kg for the AY, and Moveo spots of 7 and 14 mm at 755 nm where the AY had 14 mm only. At 755 nm it gives fluence of 2 to 200 J/cm2, pulses of 0.2 to 50 ms, up to 10 Hz and skin cooling at 15 degrees C.

Moveo is a contact handpiece with a cooled sapphire tip, glided over a small area in repeated passes. The AZ+, which Cartessa announced for the US and Canada in May 2022, adds Moveo SR and Moveo VL on the Nd:YAG side, so an AZ that shows SR or VL options is really an AZ+. The newer Motus PRO AX, model M130P1, is also alexandrite only but belongs to the PRO family with stamp spots up to 24 mm and 12 Hz.

Photograph the serial label so the M130B1 model number is legible, along with the home screen. List each standard handpiece by spot size and both Moveo handpieces, and describe the sapphire tips and the delivery fiber. Buyers will ask for the service history and software version.
