Candela VelaShape II

VelaShape II is the second generation of the VelaShape body shaping system developed by Syneron Medical. Like the rest of the family, it heats tissue with a mix of infrared light and conducted bipolar radiofrequency while vacuum suction, and on one applicator rotating massage, works the skin. A 2017 Syneron study protocol states that VelaShape II has carried a CE mark since 2009 and delivers 65 W of RF energy. The first VelaShape, cleared by FDA under K071872 in 2007 as a renamed VelaSmooth with higher RF power, is cleared for relief of minor muscle aches, temporary improvement of local circulation, temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite and temporary reduction of thigh circumference. A 2012 filing, K122579, switched the VelaShape infrared source from a tungsten halogen lamp to LEDs.

FDA's GUDID database lists two VelaShape II applicators: the large VSmooth, part FG70341, and the small VContour, part FG70351, with refurbished versions marked R. Replaceable covers fit over each applicator and are sold by size and rated time, for example grey 1 hour covers for the large and small applicators, a cream 4 hour small cover and a dark grey 8 hour small cover, plus 10 packs. GUDID shows all of these out of commercial distribution since June 2023.

The generations look similar, so the label and power figure matter. VelaShape III raised RF power to 150 W and uses its own covers, such as 10 x 13 mm, 25 x 30 mm and 25 x 50 mm sizes rated at 4 hours. If your covers carry VelaShape II on the package, or the applicator part numbers start FG703, you have a VelaShape II.

Buyers will check that both applicators work, that vacuum pulls evenly, that the VSmooth rollers turn freely, and that cables are not cracked. Because covers are no longer listed as in distribution, count any unopened ones by size and rating. Include service records and photos of the console label, screen and both applicator heads.
