Candela Frax Pro
Sell your used Candela Frax Pro.
The Candela Frax Pro is a standalone console for non-ablative fractional laser treatments. It drives two applicators, the Frax 1550 at 1550 nm and the Frax 1940 at 1940 nm. FDA 510(k) summaries describe both as diode based, with the laser diodes built into the applicator and the light emitted in a fractional pattern. Candela announced U.S. availability of the Frax Pro in January 2021, but the console is older than the name. FDA cleared it in March 2018 as the Ellipse Ydun with the Frax 1550 applicator (K180406), and a later Candela filing confirms the Frax Pro was previously called Ydun.
Launch coverage put the reach of the 1940 nm applicator at about 200 microns and the 1550 nm applicator at up to 800 microns in histology. FDA cleared the Frax 1940 for the Frax Pro and Nordlys under K212492 in December 2021 for soft tissue coagulation, skin resurfacing and benign pigmented lesions in Fitzpatrick types I to IV. Candela's spec sheet for the Frax 1550 gives 5 to 100 mJ per pulse, pulse durations of 1 to 20 ms, scan widths of 4 to 12 mm, a 650 nm aiming beam and integrated SoftCool air cooling. The applicator rides on a magnetically attached roller that detaches for cleaning.
Both applicators also plug into the Nordlys, Candela's multi-application platform, which adds SWT intense pulsed light and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser. A console with a single applicator connector that runs only Frax treatments is a Frax Pro. One that also offers IPL and Nd:YAG on screen is a Nordlys. If the serial label reads Ellipse Ydun, you have the same platform under its earlier name.
Tell buyers whether the sale includes the 1550, the 1940 or both, since each applicator carries its own laser source. Expect questions about roller wear, the applicator cable, the software version and the service record. Photograph the serial label, each applicator's label and the main screen.
