Profound is a bipolar radiofrequency microneedling system first sold by Syneron Candela and now supported by Candela. The console holds an RF generator running at 460 kHz and a touch interface where the physician presets parameters and watches temperature readings from sensors at the treatment site. The operator chooses a target tissue temperature between 65 and 75 °C in one degree steps. Its regulatory history reaches back to Primaeva Medical, whose system was cleared in September 2009 under K082391; Syneron agreed to buy Primaeva the following month. FDA clearance K161043, issued in September 2016, covers the configuration most resale units carry today.

That clearance describes two reusable handpieces. The 25 degree Dermal handpiece has five independently controlled RF channels across a 14 mm treatment width, and its cartridge holds five pairs of microneedles; it is cleared for percutaneous treatment of facial wrinkles. The 75 degree SubQ handpiece has seven channels across 20 mm and is cleared to improve the appearance of cellulite in Fitzpatrick skin types I to III. Each handpiece takes its own sterile, single-use electrode cartridge. FDA's GUDID database lists the SubQ cartridge as Candela catalog number KT76663, sold in a six-pack under the same clearance.

Do not confuse this system with the Profound Matrix, which Candela launched in February 2023. Matrix is a separate platform built around the Sublime, Sublative RF and Matrix Pro applicators, and Candela's current Profound product page now describes it. A console with Dermal or SubQ handpieces and angled cartridge ports is the original system.

Since every treatment consumes a cartridge, a buyer will want to know which handpieces come with the console, whether both cables and connectors are intact, and how many sealed cartridges of each type are included. Service records and the software version matter too. Photograph the serial label, the main screen and each handpiece so the dealer can see which configuration you own.

Preparing to sell your Profound

Record the year, condition, service history, and included handpieces. Take clear photos of your equipment and the screen showing its counters. Include your city and state and when you need the equipment moved.

Resale value depends on remaining consumables and the buyer's access to replacements. Include the number of cycles, cards, or tips remaining.
