Candela GentleMax Pro Plus

The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus is a dual wavelength laser platform that puts a 755 nm alexandrite laser and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser in one console. Candela received FDA 510(k) clearance for the GentleMax Pro Plus and the earlier GentleMax Pro under K201111 in May 2020. Candela positions the 755 nm source for Fitzpatrick skin types I to III and the 1064 nm source for types IV to VI, which is why the platform appears in practices that treat a wide range of patients for hair removal and related treatments.

Spot sizes on the Plus run from 1.5 mm to 26 mm. The original GentleMax Pro tops out at a smaller maximum spot, so the 26 mm option is one of the quickest ways to tell the two generations apart when you are not sure which one you own. Epidermal cooling comes from Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device, which sprays cryogen onto the skin before or after each pulse. Current units use GentleCool Pro Plus cryogen in the same aluminum canisters as the earlier GentleCool Pro.

In 2025 Candela introduced the GLX Delivery System, a single applicator and dedicated glass fiber that covers spot sizes from 12 mm to 26 mm. GLX ships on new systems and is sold as an upgrade for existing GentleMax Pro Plus units, so a console built in 2020 or 2021 may or may not have it. Say whether yours has GLX or the standard delivery system, and list every handpiece and spot size that comes with the unit.

Buyers will ask for the pulse counter reading, the software version, the service history and the condition of the fiber and handpiece. Clear photos of the serial number label, the screen showing the counter and the cooling system help a dealer make a firm offer instead of a provisional one.
