Cynosure PrecisionTx

PrecisionTx is a Cynosure laser system for minimally invasive procedures in small areas. Cynosure launched it in 2013 and marketed it for fat removal in places such as the neck and jawline and for laser ablation of the sweat glands in the armpit. It belongs to the same family as the SmartLipo Triplex and Cellulaze workstations: all three are built around the SLT II laser system that Cynosure bought from El.En. and combined with its own software and delivery systems.

Energy reaches the tissue through a thin side-firing fiber placed under the skin. Cynosure's filings name the SideLaze800 and SideLaze3D fibers as the ones used with PrecisionTx. FDA cleared SideLaze800 in May 2012 under K121127 as a side-firing delivery accessory for Cynosure's 1440 nm lasers, and in January 2015 clearance K141511 added treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis to its indications, alongside laser assisted lipolysis and soft tissue incision, ablation and coagulation. That 2015 filing describes the Cynosure 1440 nm laser as a solid state Nd:YAG laser with a neodymium rod, activated by footswitch, weighing about 220 pounds and needing 230 volt, 16 amp single phase power.

Cynosure describes the fibers for SmartLipo, Cellulaze and PrecisionTx as consumable parts, so a working PrecisionTx needs a supply of compatible fibers as well as the console. Because the three systems share a laser platform, the name on the console label and the treatment software are what separate a PrecisionTx from a Triplex or Cellulaze unit. The SmartLipo Triplex, for comparison, is a three wavelength system.

Before making an offer, a buyer asks about the console label and software version, the number and type of unopened fibers included, the condition of the fiber port and footswitch, and the service history, including any work on the laser source. Confirm the site can supply 230 volt power for a test fire, and plan freight for a console of this weight.
