Cynosure Icon
Sell your used Cynosure Icon.

The Icon Aesthetic System was built by Palomar Medical Technologies as a single console that accepts a range of light and laser handpieces. Palomar unveiled it in April 2011 at the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery meeting, and FDA cleared it under K103664 in March 2011 and K110907 in June 2011. In early 2012 Palomar reported upgrading existing customers to the Icon, and later clearances, including K142376 in September 2014, were filed by Cynosure. The console holds the power supply, chiller and electronics.
FDA's Icon clearances describe several handpiece types: the Max series intense pulsed light handpieces, a 1540 fractional non ablative laser, a 1440 fractional non ablative laser, a 2940 Er:YAG laser in ablative and fractional ablative versions, a 1064 laser and the MaxIR infrared handpiece. Cynosure's literature names MaxG as one of the Max series light handpieces and refers to XD and XF microlens optics for the 1540. For the 2940 fractional handpiece, K142376 lists 6 by 6 mm and 10 by 10 mm treatment areas and color coded optics labeled silver, blue, green, red and purple. Clearance K110907 also covers the Skintel Reader, which measures skin melanin to help set a starting fluence.
Used Icons differ mainly in their handpiece sets. A unit with only an IPL handpiece and one with 1540, 2940 and several Max handpieces are very different purchases. Palomar's earlier StarLux and Artisan platforms appear as predicates in the Icon filings and used handpieces with Lux names, so check that the console label reads Icon.
For your listing, read the name off every handpiece and note which 1540 optics and 2940 optics are present. Report the pulse or shot count for each handpiece if the screen shows it, whether a Skintel reader is included, and any filter or crystal damage on the IPL handpieces. Buyers will also ask about the software version and recent service. Photos of the console label, the main screen and each handpiece label support a firm offer.
