PicoSure Pro is Cynosure's 2022 update to its PicoSure picosecond laser. It is built around a 755 nm alexandrite source, and Cynosure's physician brochure lists pulse widths of 500 to 900 picoseconds, pulse energy of 300 mJ and a maximum fluence of 6.37 J/cm². Cynosure introduced it at the AMWC congress in Monaco in spring 2022, and trade coverage that June described it as delivering about 50 percent more energy than the previous PicoSure, with adjustable fluence and a redesigned interface. Optional 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths, sold for tattoo removal, are offered as add-ons rather than standard equipment.

The brochure lists one Zoom handpiece covering 2 to 6 mm and four fixed handpieces at 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm, of which the 5 mm is new to the Pro. Two lenses define the skin treatments. The Platinum Focus lens is described in the brochure as cleared for acne scars and wrinkles in skin types I to IV, and the flat lens as cleared for pigmented lesions in skin types I to VI. FDA's March 2021 clearance for the PicoSure Workstation, K210226, added melasma, nevus of Ota and Hori macules to the 755 nm indications, and Cynosure markets the Pro on those indications.

Original PicoSure and Pro systems are easy to mix up. The 5 mm fixed handpiece, the flat lens, the Platinum Focus lens and adjustable fluence on the fixed spots all point to a Pro. So does the Pro name on the start screen and console label.

Tell a buyer whether your unit has the 532 nm and 1064 nm delivery systems, since many do not. Count the handpieces and lenses that come with it and note any scratches on lens surfaces. Buyers will also ask for the pulse count, software version and service records. Clear photos of the serial plate, the start screen and each handpiece help a dealer quote a firm number.

These ranges come from current asking prices on the open market rather than completed sales.
