Lutronic Spectra XT
Sell your used Lutronic Spectra XT.
The Spectra XT belongs to Lutronic's Spectra line of Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers for tattoos and pigment. FDA records for this platform use the plain name SPECTRA. The clearances of April 2011 and February 2012, K103455 and K113588, describe a laser that produces 1064 nm and, through KTP conversion, 532 nm, delivered by an articulated arm to a handpiece. Two optional dye handpieces convert the 532 nm beam to 585 nm or 650 nm, which is where the four wavelength description comes from.
The cleared indications split by wavelength. At 532 nm, and at 585 and 650 nm through the dye handpieces, they cover light ink tattoos in red, tan, purple, orange, sky blue and green, epidermal pigmented lesions, minor vascular lesions, lentigines, cafe au lait macules, seborrheic keratoses, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, Becker's nevi, freckles and nevus spilus. At 1064 nm they cover dark ink tattoos, nevus of Ota, hair lightening, common nevi and skin resurfacing for acne scars and wrinkles. The 2012 clearance added melasma at 1064 nm.
The line goes back to the Spectra VRM II and VRM III, cleared in 2007 and 2008. Its successor, the Hollywood Spectra, was cleared in February 2022 with the 2012 Spectra clearance as its primary predicate. Hollywood Spectra handpieces carry sensors that detect handpiece type and spot size, and FDA's device database lists zoom, collimated, fractional, dual focused dots and 2 mm dye handpieces for it. The same database lists two US Spectra consoles, the SPECTRA SL body and the Spectra-Option body, so the label tells you which version you have.
Give buyers the exact model name on the label, the full list of handpieces, and whether the 585 nm and 650 nm dye handpieces are included, since they are optional. Expect questions about the articulated arm, the cooling system, error history and the service record. Photos of the serial label, the main screen and each handpiece help a dealer separate a Spectra from a Hollywood Spectra before making an offer.
