The Lutronic Genius is a radiofrequency microneedling system. Its handpiece drives fine needles into the skin and delivers bipolar RF energy at a selected depth. FDA cleared the original system under K180945 on December 10, 2018, with Lutronic's own Infini RF system as the predicate, announced by Lutronic in February 2019. The cleared indication is electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatologic and general surgical procedures. The 2018 summary describes a 460 kHz generator with a 50 W maximum output, exposure times from 10 to 1000 ms and needle depth adjustable from 0.5 to 3.5 mm.
The tip in that first clearance carries a 7 by 7 array of 49 needles, each 200 micrometers in diameter, on a 10 by 10 mm footprint. Tips are disposable, ethylene oxide sterilized and supplied with a protective cap, while the handpiece is reusable. Lutronic's launch material centered on the system's sensing and feedback software, which it describes as reading the tissue in real time so energy delivery stays consistent through a treatment.
A second clearance, K253484, decided on June 29, 2026, lists a 4.0 mm maximum depth, exposure from 10 to 600 ms and three added tips: P16D with 16 needles in a 4 by 4 grid, P14D with 14 needles in two rows of seven, and G25D with 25 needles. These join the 49 needle M49D and G49D tips. The same document names GeniusSkin, Genius M and GeniusX handpieces for the earlier configuration.
Buyers ask about the handpiece first, so say which handpiece or handpieces you have and whether each runs without error messages. Tips are a running cost rather than part of the system's value, so list any sealed tips separately by type and expiry date. Include the software version, whether the depth menu reaches 4.0 mm, the service history and photos of the serial label, the treatment screen and the handpiece cable.
