Lumenis NuEra Tight

NuEra Tight is a radiofrequency system made by Bios S.r.l. in Italy and sold by Lumenis. It warms tissue with RF energy delivered through electrodes held against the skin, and its FDA filings set a maximum tissue temperature of 45 degrees C. Lumenis calls the technology FocalRF. It uses five frequencies to change heating depth: 470 kHz for deep heating, 1 and 2 MHz for medium depth, and 4 and 6 MHz for superficial heating.

According to the 510(k) summaries, the monopolar capacitive electrodes come in several sizes and plug into handpieces shaped for different body areas. They work with a return plate in contact with the patient. A bipolar electrode is fixed to a small area handpiece and needs no return plate, and a separate massage handpiece adds mechanical treatment. A thin layer of conductive cream is used under every handpiece, and a footswitch and pause handpiece are optional controls. Lumenis lists Body, Face and Bipolar handpieces and eight electrodes from 20 to 100 mm.

The name appears on several models and clearances. K200359, cleared in August 2020, covers the NuEra Tight RF and NuEra Tight RF Plus for topical heating to temporarily relieve pain and muscle spasms and increase local circulation, and, with massage, a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The RF Plus has a larger chassis that holds an electrical muscle stimulation unit cleared separately under K201239. K223856, from 2023, added abdominal circumference reduction through heat induced lipolysis at 1 and 2 MHz. GUDID lists model numbers such as APMD140 and APMD145-1ch.US.

Before making an offer, a buyer will want the model number from the rating label, since it shows whether the unit is an RF or RF Plus and whether muscle stimulation is included. List every handpiece and electrode size, and say whether the return plates are reusable or single use. Add the software version, the service history and photos of the label, the screen and the full accessory set.
