The LightSheer Desire is one of four consoles in the Lumenis LightSheer family of pulsed diode array lasers. The others are the LightSheer Duet, LightSheer Infinity and LightSheer Desire Light. A Lumenis 510(k) cleared in September 2017, K170179, describes all four. Each console supplies the user interface and software, power and control for the handpieces, the handpiece ports and a cooling system,, and most have a vacuum pump. The same clearance added 1060 nm handpieces to the Desire.

The handpieces carry the diode arrays and fall into two groups. HS, or high speed, handpieces use vacuum assisted technology. ET, XC and LR handpieces use ChillTip contact cooling. Each handpiece emits either around 805 nm, within a 790 to 950 nm range, or around 1060 nm, within a 1040 to 1080 nm range. A 2015 Desire Light summary gives 805 nm figures: the ET handpiece has a 9 x 9 mm tip and fluence from 10 to 100 J/cm2, the XC has a 12 x 12 mm tip and up to 40 J/cm2, and both offer pulse durations of 5 to 400 ms at up to 3 Hz through a water cooled sapphire tip.

The clearance spells out which handpieces each console accepts. The Desire works with ET and XC handpieces at 805 nm and 1060 nm and with HS handpieces at both wavelengths. The Desire Light takes ET and XC only, with no HS option, so a vacuum handpiece points to a full Desire. Shared handpieces differ only in their mechanical connector, so the connector must match your console.

List every handpiece by type and wavelength, for example ET 805, XC 805, HS 805 or a 1060 nm version, and give the pulse count each one shows. A buyer will look at the sapphire window on ChillTip handpieces, test the vacuum on HS handpieces and ask about coolant and service history. Clear photos of the console label, each handpiece label and the counter screen support a firm offer.
