Alma TED

Alma TED is a hair loss treatment system from Alma Lasers that uses ultrasound rather than laser or light energy. Sisram Medical, Alma's parent company, announced its U.S. launch on March 25, 2022. The announcement described an ultrasound console with a proprietary tip built around Impact Delivery, Alma's patented technique for using acoustic pressure to carry pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical products through the epidermis. Alma calls this approach trans-epidermal delivery. On its own technology page, Alma describes the energy as low-frequency, non-focused ultrasound.

When it launched, the company described TED as a Class 1 medical device pending FDA clearance. The FDA's GUDID database now lists two separate TED components from Alma Lasers Ltd.: the Alma TED System 120V 50/60HZ, catalog number AATE16112101BA0001, and the TED Applicator, catalog number AATE17112102. Both listings, published in September 2024, carry FDA product code ISA (Massager, Therapeutic, Electric) and are marked reusable. Because the applicator has its own catalog number, a complete system is the console plus that handpiece, and a missing applicator should be flagged.

TED is easy to confuse with IMPACT. Alma uses the same Impact technology in IMPACT, a trans-epidermal delivery applicator, and lists Accent Prime, Alma PrimeX and Alma Hybrid among its IMPACT products. A practice that owns one of those platforms with an IMPACT applicator does not own a TED, even if the treatments look similar. A true TED is its own console, and its label reads Alma TED System.

Before making an offer, a buyer will want a photo of the console label showing the system name and the 120V rating, and a photo of the applicator's label. The tip carries the Impact Delivery design, so close photos of its face and of the applicator cable help. Add the service history, the software version and the purchase date. If any topical formulation used with the treatment is included, list it with its expiration date.
