Alma PrimeX

Alma PrimeX is a body contouring and skin tightening platform that pairs Alma's guided ultrasound with unipolar radiofrequency running at 40.68 MHz, which Alma calls AlmaWave. Alma unveiled it on April 12, 2021, during a live online launch event from its Nuremberg headquarters, naming the abdomen, waist, thighs and buttocks as target areas. There is no laser source: the ultrasound targets subcutaneous fat and the RF heats the dermis.

Alma describes PrimeX as one console that accepts 12 applicators. The main body applicator is UltraWave, a large plate that delivers non-focused ultrasound and uses four built-in features: ConeX to concentrate the acoustic waves, Impulse for pulsed delivery, MaXimize vacuum to keep the plate coupled to the skin, and ReACCT to adjust output to the tissue. UniBody adds unipolar RF through a detachable rotating massage head, and Xcentuate uses two hands-free, temperature-adjustable RF applicators with cooling. For the face and smaller zones, the brochure lists UniFace, UniLarge, Coaxipolar, TuneFace, Tune Periorbital, Impact, the MiniSpeed and SpeedSculpt small ultrasound applicators, and a Microplasma applicator with Roller, Spark, Icepick and Colibri tips.

Owners of an older Alma body platform sometimes cannot tell whether they have a PrimeX or an Accent Prime. Accent Prime came first, launching in March 2016, and it also combined ultrasound with unipolar RF. Its large body ultrasound applicator is UltraSpeed, a plate-type sonotrode, and it introduced the Tune Large, Tune Face and Tune Periorbital stationary applicators. An UltraWave applicator in the kit points to PrimeX, but the name on the console and serial label settles it.

Because so much depends on the applicator set, two PrimeX units can differ widely. A buyer will want every applicator listed by name, proof that the UltraWave vacuum holds, and confirmation that the UniBody massage head and UniFace massage ring are present and turn freely. Expect requests for the software version, service records and any applicator replacements, plus photos of the serial label, the main screen and each applicator with its cable.
