The original Alma Harmony is a multi-application light and laser workstation that dates from the years when Alma traded as MSq (M2) Ltd. FDA records list it as the Lovely II (Harmony) model in the Modified MSq Family of Lovely Light/Laser Systems, cleared under K042000 on December 21, 2004. The underlying Lovely system, cleared under K033946 in April 2004, was a console with water cooling, an LCD with soft keys and up to seven handpieces, each holding its own light source, emitting between 300 and 1064 nm.

The 2004 clearance lists the energy sources available on the Harmony. Alma's filtered light, called AFT, covers 420 to 950 nm for acne, pigmented and vascular lesions and hair removal. A UV source at 290 to 380 nm is listed for vitiligo and psoriasis. The laser options are long pulse and Q-switched Nd:YAG at 1064 nm, frequency doubled Nd:YAG at 532 nm, Nd:YAG at 1320 nm, and Er:YAG at 2940 nm. The FDA device database still lists Harmony handpieces such as 540 VL/PL, 570 SR and 650 HR under the original Lovely clearance.

Several Alma consoles carry the Harmony name. The same 2004 filing names the Lovely I, or Aria, a lighter model. The Harmony XL followed under K072564 in May 2008. The Harmony Lite, cleared under K141237 in 2015, is a separate platform with IPL, LED and NIR handpieces and no lasers. Alma reused the plain Alma Harmony name for a newer platform cleared under K230308 in March 2023.

On an older Harmony the handpieces carry most of the value, because each contains its own light source. List every handpiece by the wavelength or name printed on it and say whether it fires. Note the condition of the filters and cooling, whether the console's water system runs without alarms, and the service history. Photos of the serial label, the screen and each handpiece help a buyer identify the generation.
