Venus Concept Venus Viva MD

The Venus Viva MD is a tabletop radiofrequency system from Venus Concept that combines two applicators in one console. The Viva MD applicator delivers fractional radiofrequency through a tip of fine pins for skin resurfacing, and the DiamondPolar applicator uses Venus Concept's (MP)2 technology, which pairs multipolar radiofrequency with pulsed electromagnetic fields. The FDA cleared the system on June 26, 2020 under K201164. The clearance brought the fractional applicator from the Viva SR and the DiamondPolar from the Legacy BX into one console, with both applicators able to connect at once.

The fractional applicator works at 0.46 MHz and takes detachable single use tips in two sizes. The 160 pin tip delivers up to 62 mJ per pin, and the 80 pin tip, which was new in this clearance, delivers up to 124 mJ per pin. Venus Concept's SmartScan software controls the pattern. The applicator is cleared for dermatological procedures that require ablation and resurfacing of the skin. The DiamondPolar is cleared for moderate to severe facial wrinkles in women with Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV. The console weighs 8 kg.

The earlier Venus Viva uses the 160 pin tip only, according to Venus Concept's annual reports, which list 160 pins for Viva and 80 for Viva MD. Support for the 80 pin tip is the practical way to tell the two apart. The same fractional technology also appears as an applicator on the Venus Versa and Versa Pro, but those are larger floor consoles with IPL applicators.

Since this is a small tabletop unit, buyers expect it to arrive complete. Confirm that both applicators and their cables are present and undamaged, and list any unopened tips by pin count. Venus Concept builds connectivity into the Viva MD, so ask how the account will be transferred. Buyers will also ask for the service history and the software version, with photos of the serial label, the touchscreen and both applicators.
