Venus Concept Venus Bliss MAX

The Venus Bliss MAX is a body contouring workstation that combines three technologies in one console: 1064 nm diode laser applicators for non-invasive lipolysis, an (MP)2 applicator that pairs bipolar radiofrequency with pulsed electromagnetic fields and vacuum, and FlexMAX applicators for electrical muscle stimulation. FDA clearance K213308, decided on January 12, 2022, covered lipolysis of the abdomen and flanks. A second clearance, K220592, decided on April 27, 2022, added the thighs, and Venus Concept's current indication text also lists the back, all for people with a BMI of 30 or less.

The clearances describe four diode laser applicators, one (MP)2 applicator and four FlexMAX applicators. Each laser applicator has a 6 by 6 cm spot, sapphire light guides and contact cooling, with up to 50 W per applicator and 200 W in total. The (MP)2 applicator runs radiofrequency at 1 MHz and magnetic pulses at 15 Hz, with eight electrodes and four suction levels. The FlexMAX applicators are hands free pads held on with Velcro belts and conductive gel, and the software offers programs for eight muscle groups.

Venus Concept sells two neighbors that are easy to mix up. The original Venus Bliss has the diode laser applicators and the (MP)2 applicator but no FlexMAX muscle stimulation. The newer Venus Nova keeps the (MP)2 and FlexMAX technologies but drops the diode laser. A unit with all three applicator types is a Bliss MAX, and the FDA device database lists it under model BLMX0001.

A complete Bliss MAX has nine applicators, so count them before you list it. Note any missing belts, the condition of the laser applicator windows and the state of the cooling system. Venus Concept builds connectivity into the system to collect treatment data, so ask how the account and stored data will be handled at transfer. Add service records and photos of the serial label, the main screen and every applicator.
