Fotona XS Dynamis

The XS Dynamis is the Er:YAG only member of Fotona's Dynamis line, a 2940 nm resurfacing laser without the Nd:YAG source found in the SP models. FDA clearance K101306, decided on July 1, 2011, described XS Dynamis as the single Er:YAG configuration of the Dynamis family, and the Dynamis Pro clearances of 2015, 2018 and 2022 also cover it. The FDA device database lists it as model M002-2A.

Fotona rates the XS Dynamis at 3 J and lists full field, fractional, SMOOTH and TURBO modalities, with 24 preset rejuvenation programs. The beam reaches the patient through an articulated arm. Scanner options include the F-Runner, which creates 250 µm channels across a 168 mm² area, the S-Runner for full field work and the T-Runner (S22-T) with an 8 mm spot. The 2018 clearance, K182088, added soft tissue resurfacing indications for the S22 and S22-T scanners. Manual handpieces include the R04-Ti with five spacers from 3 to 12 mm, the R11 with a variable 2 to 7 mm spot, the R09-2G for gynecology, the FS01 fractional handpiece and the PS01, PS02 and PS03X pixel screen handpieces.

Telling an XS from its siblings is straightforward. An XS has only the articulated arm, while an SP Dynamis or SP Spectro also has a fiber delivery system for its Nd:YAG laser. An XP Dynamis has the fiber but no Er:YAG arm.

On an XS, the arm, the scanners and the spacer sets carry much of the value. Count the R04-Ti spacers, say which scanners are included and confirm that each one connects and runs. The wireless footswitch is optional on this model, so state whether yours has one. Buyers will also ask for service records, flashlamp history and the installed software version, along with photos of the serial label, the main screen and each handpiece's part number.
