The XP Dynamis is the Nd:YAG only member of Fotona's Dynamis line. It has no Er:YAG source, so all of its 1064 nm output travels through an optical fiber to a handpiece or scanner rather than through an articulated arm. FDA clearance K101306, decided on July 1, 2011, described XP Dynamis as the single Nd:YAG configuration of the Dynamis family, and the later Dynamis Pro clearances, K143723 in 2015, K182088 in 2018 and K213267 in 2022, cover it as well. The FDA device database lists it as model M001-12F.

Fotona rates the XP Dynamis at 80 W, with long pulse, FRAC3, QCW and PIANO modes. QCW is the surgical mode used with fiber handpieces for procedures such as laser lipolysis. Scanner options are the S-11, which covers up to 42 cm² with a 6 mm spot, and the L-Runner Pro, which scans areas up to 76 by 84 mm. Manual handpieces include the R33-T with a 2 to 10 mm spot, the R34-T at 15 or 20 mm, and the R27 and R27C surgical handpieces.

Two other Fotona systems are easily confused with this one. The XP Spectro is a lower powered Nd:YAG version in a smaller housing. The older Fotona XP Max, also sold as DualisXP Plus II, was a long pulse Nd:YAG laser cleared under K050293 and is now listed as not in commercial distribution. The FDA device database gives XP Max the same model number, M001-12F, so the label number alone will not tell them apart. Check the name on the front panel.

Because the fiber carries every pulse, buyers look closely at it and at its connector ends. List each handpiece and scanner by part number, note which QCW fibers come with the system and their diameters, and include flashlamp and service history. Photos of the front badge, the serial label and the main screen help a dealer separate an XP Dynamis from an XP Max or XP Spectro.

What moves your number on this model:

  • Handpiece completeness: R33-T, R34-T, R27, R27C, S-11, L-Runner Pro
  • Counter readings
  • Service history
