Fotona StarWalker PICO Pro

The StarWalker PICO Pro is Fotona's newest picosecond laser. Its record in the FDA device database, model M031-3A/2 PICO Pro, was published on October 20, 2025 and cites K202172, the November 2020 clearance that added PICO modes to the StarWalker family. According to the record, it has one flashlamp pumped Nd:YAG cavity at 1064 nm and a frequency doubling crystal for 532 nm. Optional dye converter handpieces produce 585 nm and 650 nm, and every handpiece has sensors that detect its type and spot size automatically. K202172 lists PICO pulses of 300 to 400 ps at up to 0.8 J at 1064 nm and 0.3 J at 532 nm.

Fotona's PICO Pro brochure lists four wavelengths (1064, 650, 585 and 532 nm), a maximum energy of 800 mJ, a minimum pulse of 300 ps, peak power up to 2.7 GW, repetition rates of 1 to 10 Hz and spots up to 10 mm. The brochure also mentions the patented OPTOflex arm and color coded titanium handpieces, and states that the system uses no consumables.

The handpiece names differ from those on Fotona's nanosecond StarWalkers. BlackBeam and GreenBeam give round spots of 3 to 10 mm, including a low fluence 3L optic. Black and Green give square spots, while DuoDot, DuoHigh and DuoLow cover 1 to 3 mm. Black F9 and Black F5 are fractional handpieces at 1064 nm, and the Leo has a 2 by 10 mm rectangular pattern. Green F5 is the fractional 532 nm handpiece. RedLase at 650 nm and YellowLase at 585 nm have 2, 3 and 5 mm spots. Fractional handpieces accept LIOB spacers. The earlier picosecond StarWalker, the PQX, uses the same base model number, so the suffix on the label tells the two apart.

Because each handpiece adds a capability, list them all by name and spot size. Buyers will also ask about the arm, flashlamp service, the software version and the service history.
