Quanta System Echo

Echo is an 808 nm diode laser for hair removal from Quanta System. The FDA cleared it under K232236 on October 20, 2023. The 510(k) summary describes a 160 W diode source, 808 nm plus or minus 20 nm, delivered through optical fibers to handpieces with fixed spot sizes. The clearance covers hair removal, permanent hair reduction and benign vascular lesions. The predicates were Asclepion's MeDioStar and the Lumenis LightSheer Desire. The comparison table lists pulse widths from 5 to 100 ms and repetition rates up to 10 Hz. The laser fires from a footswitch or from a finger switch on the Skin Cooler handpiece.

Quanta's product page calls the delivery system Liquid Fiber Beam and the source Bright Stream Laser Technology. It lists a maximum fluence of 90 J/cm2. The page describes two handpiece styles. The Contact Skin Cooler housing holds the laser handpiece against a chilled contact surface. The Air Skin Cryo handpiece works with forced air cooling instead. Interchangeable optics give spot sizes of 12, 18 and 24 mm on either style. The interface includes a built-in treatment database with step-by-step setting guidance.

Echo is a fiber-delivered diode laser, unlike Quanta's alexandrite and Nd:YAG hair removal platforms in the Thunder, Light EVO and Suprema lines, which some sellers confuse it with because they share a brand and a purpose. The model label with the 808 nm rating identifies it.

When you describe an Echo, say which handpiece housings and spot optics are included, whether the delivery fiber is intact, and whether the cooling works. Buyers will also ask for the pulse or shot count, the software version, the date of the last service, and any error codes the system has shown.
