Quanta System Duetto MT EVO

The Duetto MT is part of Quanta System's EVO family. It is a hair removal and dermatology laser that combines a 755 nm alexandrite source with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG source. Its distinguishing feature is the second generation of Quanta Mixed Technology, which fires either wavelength alone, in sequence, or together at an adjustable ratio. Quanta lists repetition rates up to 10 Hz on a single source and 5 Hz in mixed mode, a 16 A draw from the wall, a 10.4 inch glass touchscreen and a double footswitch.

The integrated contact cooler works with or without a sapphire window at three target temperatures, and the Air SkinCryo adapter connects to a separate cold air unit. Through Quanta's Twain connector, Twain IPL and Twain 2940 Er:YAG handpieces can be added at any time. The FDA summaries for the EVO Platform (K152012, cleared in December 2015, and later filings) say that all EVO models share the same components and control software and differ only in the optical bench. On the EVO platform, pulsed laser sources reach the skin through an optical fiber and focusing handpieces.

Several Quanta systems offer the same two wavelengths. The FDA cross-reference for the later Suprema family lists an EVO model called Light A Star with 1064 and 755 nm, and it equates that model with a new Duetto Suprema. The Thunder series is a separate high-power alexandrite and Nd:YAG platform with a 12 inch screen. The MT designation and the mixed emission settings on screen identify a Duetto MT.

Before an offer, buyers will ask whether the mixed mode works, which handpiece spot sizes are included, the condition of the delivery fiber, whether the SkinCryo adapter or any Twain handpieces come with it, and what the service records show for both laser sources.
