Quanta System Discovery Pico

The Quanta System Discovery Pico is a laser platform built on Nd:YAG sources that emit at 1064 nm and 532 nm in picosecond, Q-switched nanosecond and long pulse modes. Its first FDA clearance, K163222, was decided on December 5, 2016, and described the family as derived from Quanta's EVO platform. Later filings added fractional handpieces in July 2017 and microbeam handpieces in September 2019. Quanta lists picosecond pulses of 450 ps at 1064 nm and 370 ps at 532 nm, with repetition rates up to 10 Hz.

The 2025 clearance lists round handpieces from 2 to 12 mm, square handpieces at 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 mm, and fractional or microbeam handpieces at 8 and 9 mm, the 9 mm version being called High Coverage. An optional VarioPulse feature lets the user choose short, medium or long picosecond pulses, from 450 to 800 ps at 1064 nm and 370 to 600 ps at 532 nm. A Twain connector accepts the Twain IPL handpiece and the separately cleared Twain 2940 Er:YAG handpiece.

The family has three models that differ in their installed sources and in the Twain connector. The Discovery Pico has 1064 nm and 532 nm in picosecond and Q-switched modes, a 1064 nm photothermal mode and the Twain connector. The Discovery Pico Plus adds a 694 nm ruby laser. The Discovery Pico Derm drops the Q-switched sources and the Twain connector. The picosecond indications cover tattoo removal at 1064 nm for black, brown, green, blue and purple ink on all skin types, and at 532 nm for red, yellow and orange ink on types I to III.

Since the three models share a cabinet, a buyer will confirm the model from the label and the wavelength list on screen. List every handpiece, note whether VarioPulse is enabled and which Twain accessories are included, and describe the arm and handpiece optics. Add service records, the software version and photos of the serial label.
