Sciton diVa

Sciton's diVa is a hybrid fractional laser designed for treating vaginal tissue. It pairs a 2940 nm Er:YAG laser, which ablates, with a 1470 nm diode laser, which heats tissue without ablating it, and delivers both into the same microscopic treatment zones. Sciton introduced diVa in June 2016. FDA clearance K213761, issued in July 2022 for the JOULE diVa Laser Device, covers coagulation, vaporization, ablation and cutting of soft tissue in specialties that include gynecology, plus dermatological and skin resurfacing procedures with its micro beam handpieces.

The clearance summary describes a console that houses the power supply, the cooling system and an articulated arm or fiber optic arm ending in a handpiece, with laser emission started from a footswitch. Its handpiece comparison lists a 450 micron microbeam spot, under 70 mJ per microbeam, fluence up to 48 J/cm2 and a strengthened quartz dilator as the distance indicator. Sciton's launch material describes automated delivery: the physician inserts the dilator, presses the footswitch, and the system can treat at 90 or 180 degrees without changing handpieces.

Because diVa uses the same two wavelengths as Sciton's JOULE multi-platform system, whose 1470 nm and 2940 nm configurations served as predicates in the 2022 clearance, a console's badge alone does not show what it can run. Read the model label and the software screen to confirm that the diVa module is enabled, and list any other JOULE modules installed. The summary gives the console as 14 by 21 by 41 inches, about 200 pounds, on a 230 volt, 30 amp supply.

Before making an offer, a buyer will look at the quartz dilator for chips or cracks, the condition of the arm or fiber and the handpiece, the software version and the service history. State how many dilators come with the system. Photos of the serial label, the home screen and the handpiece help a dealer confirm the configuration.
