Sciton Contour TRL
Sell your used Sciton Contour TRL.
Contour TRL is Sciton's tunable resurfacing laser, a full field 2940 nm Er:YAG module. Sciton introduced the original Contour, a dual mode long pulse erbium laser, in 1998. The company announced Contour TRL on August 7, 2007 at the American Academy of Dermatology meeting in New York as an upgrade of that dual mode design. TRL lets the operator set ablation depth and coagulation depth independently with each pulse. Sciton describes adding coagulation to emulate an Er:YSGG laser, and more to emulate CO2.
According to Sciton's JOULE X brochure, the module tunes ablation from 4 to 200 microns and scans linear and square patterns from a single spot up to a 30 by 30 mm field. The scanner uses 4 or 6 mm spots, and the system comes with two single spot handpieces, 2 mm and 4 mm, for small areas. The same module runs the MicroLaserPeel, the NanoLaserPeel that Sciton introduced in January 2014 at about 4 to 8 microns, and deeper full field resurfacing.
Contour TRL is not a fractional laser. ProFractional uses the same 2940 nm source but scans 430 micron spots across a 20 by 20 mm field, and HALO pairs 2940 nm with 1470 nm. Contour TRL ran on the JOULE from that platform's 2009 launch. Sciton's current resurfacing brochure lists the Contour TRL and ZoomScan scanners under one 30 by 30 mm specification, and current JOULE pages name ZoomScan as a handpiece, so a newer system can show that name instead.
A buyer will look for the scanner and each single spot handpiece. Sciton has stated a no consumables policy for the JOULE, so there are no cartridges to count. Send photos of the scanner tip, the articulated arm, the serial label and the screen showing Contour TRL or ZoomScan modes, along with records of erbium laser service.
