Cutera Secret DUO

Secret DUO is a two modality skin platform that combines a radiofrequency microneedling handpiece with a fractional, nonablative 1540 nm erbium glass laser. Cutera announced its US launch in September 2023. The system is manufactured in South Korea by ILOODA, and FDA records list two clearances under the Secret Duo name: K202043, decided April 23, 2021, for the RF Smartcure applicator, cleared for electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatologic and general surgical procedures, and K213250, decided June 24, 2022, for the 1540 nm laser handpiece, cleared for dermatological procedures that call for coagulation of soft tissue and for skin resurfacing.

The two handpieces can be used on their own or in the same session. Cutera markets the laser treatment as Secret Glow, and its launch materials describe a smoother microneedling motor on the RF side. The FDA device identifier database lists it as the Secret DUO Set Package, classed as both a dermatological laser system and an electrosurgical system.

Cutera sells two close relatives, and the laser handpiece is the way to tell them apart. Secret RF is microneedling only, with no laser. Secret PRO pairs the same style of microneedling with an ablative CO2 laser. If your console came with a 1540 nm nonablative laser handpiece, it is a Secret DUO. Since the DUO reached the US market in late 2023, a Secret console bought new in the US before then is a different model.

Buyers look closely at the laser handpiece, since it is what separates this system from a plain Secret RF, so note any damage or service done on it. Report whether the RF needle drive runs cleanly and the cable is intact. Microneedle tips are single use and are counted as supplies. The FDA record shows that each console tracks a serial number and a manufacturing date, so a sharp photo of that label, together with the main screen and both handpieces, answers the first questions most dealers ask.
