Cutera Juliet

Juliet is a 2940 nm Er:YAG laser for vaginal health that Cutera sold in North America. Cutera's annual reports say the first sales came in December 2017, that the system was sourced from a third party under exclusive North American distribution rights, and that Asclepion Laser Technologies GmbH in Germany is the legal manufacturer and handles regulatory matters. Practical Dermatology covered the launch in January 2018.

Cutera described the system as an Er:YAG console with an intuitive interface plus two handpieces, My Juliet and MicroSpot. My Juliet is a single-use disposable handpiece designed for the vaginal cavity, and Cutera's filings say a disposable tip has to be replaced for every procedure. The treatment delivers two passes of energy. Asclepion still lists Juliet on its own website, where the current version shows a STERI-SPOT applicator made of an optics adapter and a sterile single-use part, a VarioSpot handpiece adjustable from 1 to 6 mm, a fractional MicroSpot handpiece with a 13 by 13 mm field, and a Fineliner handpiece with a fixed 1.5 mm spot.

Cutera's 2020 annual report blames falling Juliet sales on the COVID-19 pandemic and on an FDA letter issued on July 30, 2018 about energy devices promoted for vaginal procedures, and it records a write-off of Juliet inventory in the second quarter of 2020. Because the platform came from Asclepion, a unit bought in North America through Cutera and one bought elsewhere through Asclepion can carry different handpiece sets and labeling, so read the label for the manufacturer name and model.

A buyer will want to know who has been servicing the laser, since Cutera was the distributor and Asclepion the manufacturer, and whether parts and disposables can still be ordered. List every handpiece, the number of sealed single-use handpieces or tips and their expiry dates, the software version and the condition of the console.
