Cutera's GenesisPlus is a single-purpose 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser that the company introduced in 2010, according to its annual report for that year. The report positions it as a dedicated system for skin rejuvenation and for nail fungus, noting that it already held a CE mark for onychomycosis while the US filing was pending. FDA cleared the Cutera GenesisPlus Laser System under K103626 in April 2011. A second clearance, K122493 in May 2013, revised the podiatry settings for the temporary increase of clear nail in patients with onychomycosis.

The 2013 summary describes one console containing a flashlamp pumped solid state rod, with laser energy carried by fiber to a handpiece that has a lens at its aperture, a footswitch to fire, and a color LCD touchscreen. It lists 20 to 3500 mJ per pulse, 5 to 100 Hz and spots up to 13 mm. Indications include benign vascular lesions, scars, warts and periocular and perioral wrinkles on skin types I to VI, plus podiatry procedures. The 2010 report says the handpiece is lighter than Cutera's other 1064 nm handpiece because it has no copper cooling plate, and that it carries a non-contact temperature sensor, two aiming beams and a 5 mm spot.

Similar names cause mix-ups. Cutera's 2004 prospectus lists a CoolGlide Genesis Plus, introduced in 2003 for skin rejuvenation and pigmented lesions and sold with the OPS 600 pulsed light handpiece. That is a different and older product. Laser Genesis is also a treatment name used on other Cutera consoles, including the excel V+. Cutera's 2020 annual report lists GenesisPlus as a legacy product that still brings in revenue.

When you describe your unit, copy the model name from the serial label and say whether it is set up for skin work, nail work or both. A buyer will ask about the condition of the fiber and handpiece, the temperature sensor, the pulse count if the software shows one, software version and any recent flashlamp or service work.
