Wontech PICOCARE 450

PICOCARE 450 is a picosecond Nd:YAG laser from Wontech of South Korea, which still lists it as a picosecond 1064 nm and 532 nm system. It belongs to a family whose US history starts with the original Picocare, cleared under K162755 in June 2017 with Candela's enlighten system as its predicate. That first version fired 750 picosecond pulses. In July 2018 the FDA cleared the Picocare Family under K181272, a special 510(k) whose only change was a shorter 450 picosecond pulse, with PicoWay as an added reference device.

The family filings describe a main unit, an articulated arm, a handpiece and a footswitch. Fluence and repetition rate are set on an LCD and touch pad on the front of the console, and the display reports pulses delivered and the selected spot. Pulse energy reaches 600 mJ at 1064 nm and 300 mJ at 532 nm, with maximum fluences of 10 and 2.5 J per square centimeter. Spot size runs from 2 to 10 mm, repetition rates reach 10 Hz, and a 635 nm aiming beam is fitted. The cleared indications are tattoo removal: dark inks at 1064 nm on all skin types, and lighter inks including red and yellow at 532 nm on Fitzpatrick types I to III.

Wontech now sells several 532 and 1064 nm picosecond lasers that look alike. PICOCARE MAJESTY, first cleared in 2022, runs shorter pulses in the 275 to 400 picosecond range. PICOANDY, cleared in 2024, is a separate Wontech model with 350 to 550 picosecond pulses. The original Picocare ran at 750 picoseconds, so read the label and the pulse width on screen before you list it.

Buyers will look at the shot counter, articulated arm alignment and the condition of the handpiece optics. Say whether the unit has been serviced by Wontech or an independent engineer, and photograph the serial label and the start screen.
