The Syneron Galaxy is a multi-application platform from 2004 that combines broad spectrum light heads and diode laser heads on one console, each paired with bipolar radiofrequency under Syneron's elos approach. Syneron's annual reports say it launched in May 2004 in the United States and elsewhere and that it combines the applications of the Aurora, Syneron's light plus RF system, and the Polaris, its diode plus RF system.

Syneron's Galaxy sheet lists five application heads. Three use light with RF: DS for hair removal at 680 to 980 nm, SR for skin treatment at 580 to 980 nm and AC for acne at 400 to 980 nm, with RF from 5 to 25 J/cm3 and a 12 by 25 mm treated area. Two use a 900 nm diode laser with RF up to 100 J/cm3: LV for vascular lesions and leg veins, with fluence up to 140 J/cm2 over 5 by 8 mm, and WR for wrinkles, with fluence up to 50 J/cm2 over 8 by 12 mm. The platform weighs 35 kg and runs on 110 volt power. Syneron released upgrades for the Galaxy in 2005.

The Galaxy is easy to confuse with the systems it drew on and with later models. An Aurora carries only light heads and a Polaris only diode heads, while a Galaxy accepts both. In 2006 Syneron introduced the eMax, which its reports describe as delivering the full range of its elos modalities on one platform, and the Comet is a separate 810 nm diode hair removal system. The console label is the reliable identifier.

Expect a dealer to ask which of the five heads are included and to see each head's label, treatment surface and cable. Because the design dates from 2004, report whether the console starts without errors, whether the contact cooling works and who has serviced it recently, and include the serial label and year.
