ETHEREA-MX is the modular aesthetic laser platform from VYDENCE Medical, a manufacturer based in Sao Carlos, Brazil, with a US office in Tampa. The console itself is a base for plug in handpieces, and the handpieces define the system: VYDENCE lists handPICO, a picosecond handpiece at 1064 nm and 532 nm; ProDeep, a 1340 nm Nd:YAP non-ablative fractional handpiece; DualMode, a 2940 nm Er:YAG ablative fractional handpiece; ACROMA-QS at 1064 nm and 532 nm; LongPulse at 1064 nm; GoSmooth at 1540 nm; and the IPL-Sq intense pulsed light handpiece with filters from 400 to 695 nm. VYDENCE says it has sold more than 3,000 ETHEREA-MX platforms in over 30 countries.

FDA cleared the Vydence Etherea MX in April 2018 under K171443, a clearance that covers IPL filter indications from 400 to 1200 nm. Later clearances for the Vydence family of lasers followed in 2019 (K190007) and 2026 (K252753), and handPICO was cleared on its own in 2022 (K220041). The 2026 summary also lists a handPICO fractional tip for picosecond use at 1064 nm on the ETHEREA-MX and ZYE lasers, first cleared in December 2024.

The ZYE YAG and ZYE ALX platforms accept the same handpieces but also drive fiber delivered Nd:YAG or alexandrite handpieces, so check the badge and look for fiber handpieces before assuming which platform you have. VYDENCE states that its handpieces need no calibration and that the platform has no consumables, which makes the handpiece list the main variable between two units of the same year.

When listing the platform, name every handpiece by its printed label and give its serial number, and note which IPL filters and spot sizes are present. Buyers will look at the optical windows and tips for damage, and ask for the software version and service records. Say whether a Siberian-FIT air chiller is included. Clear photos of the console label, the main screen and each handpiece label help a dealer confirm the configuration.
