See what it's worth

Neo Derm is one of three current models in Aerolase's Neo line of 1064 nm Nd:YAG lasers, alongside the Neo Elite and the Neo V. All three use the 650 microsecond pulse that Aerolase has built its products around, and Aerolase lists none of them as needing contact cooling or cryogen. Aerolase describes Neo Derm as combining the strengths of the Elite and the V, aimed at both aesthetic and medical skin conditions, and the company was publishing material on acne treatment with Neo Derm by June 2023.

Aerolase's published specification for Neo Derm is up to 255 J/cm2 at 650 microseconds and 318 J/cm2 at 1.5 milliseconds, at up to 2 Hz, with typical sessions of 10 to 20 minutes. Its comparison table highlights melasma, psoriasis, acne from mild to severe, veins, scars and rosacea among the cleared uses. Aerolase's 2012 clearance for its Nd:YAG family, K120235, describes the shared architecture of these lasers: an air cooled power supply unit, a handpiece on an umbilical cord, and a front display panel for setting parameters.

The published numbers do not separate Neo Derm from Neo Elite, which Aerolase lists with identical fluence and repetition figures. Neo V is different on paper, reaching 510 J/cm2 at 1.5 milliseconds but capped at 1.5 Hz. That makes the model label, and the model name shown on the startup screen if present, the only reliable way to identify a Neo Derm. Older units sold as LightPod Neo or LightPod Neo Elite are earlier names in the same family, and the Era Elite is a separate 2940 nm erbium laser.

Since the system relies on one handpiece, buyers will ask for close photos of the handpiece window, the umbilical cord and its connectors, and the power unit's air vents. Add the model and serial label, the screen with any pulse count and software version, the purchase date, and service records.

What moves your number on this model:

  • Handpiece completeness: Single Nd:YAG handpiece with umbilical cord
  • Counter readings
  • Service history
