Aerolase LightPod Neo
Sell your used Aerolase LightPod Neo.
The Aerolase LightPod Neo is a compact 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser built around a 650 microsecond pulse, a design Aerolase has pursued since its founding in 1996. It is the earlier name for the platform now sold as the Neo. Aerolase's Nd:YAG clearance K120235, issued in September 2012 to Aerolase Medical Lasers, formerly Innotech USA, lists LightPod Neo among its trade names alongside FriendlyLight Nd:YAG, FriendlyLight Neo, LightPod Nd:YAG, LightPod Forte, LightPod Allure and LightPod Nova. The clearance covers Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI, with dermatology indications that include benign vascular and pigmented lesions, wrinkles, inflammatory acne, hair reduction and pseudofolliculitis barbae, plus podiatry and general surgery uses.
The 510(k) summary describes the hardware simply: a power supply unit with its own air cooling, a laser handpiece connected by an umbilical cord, and a display panel on the front of the unit for setting parameters. Aerolase blog posts from 2014 and 2016 describe the system as portable at 22 pounds, and a physician quoted on the Aerolase site in 2016 said the only routine consumable was a small handpiece filter changed once or twice a month.
FDA's GUDID database lists an Aerolase device with catalog number LightPod Neo and model MicroPulse1064-XT, still in commercial distribution. Its erbium sibling, the LightPod Era, is listed as ErbiumXL and left distribution in 2021. Aerolase dates the launch of the Neo Elite to 2018, and clinical papers on the Aerolase site use both LightPod Neo and LightPod Neo Elite, so check the label rather than relying on what the previous owner called it. Current Neo models are the Neo Elite, Neo V and Neo Derm.
With a single handpiece doing all the work, a buyer will look closely at the handpiece window and filter, the full length of the umbilical cord and its connectors, and the air vents on the power unit. Include the model and serial label, the display, and service records.
