ThermiRF is the temperature controlled radiofrequency generator sold by Thermi, a company founded in Dallas in 2012 whose early FDA filings carry the name ThermiGen. FDA cleared it in November 2013 under its original name, the Symphony RF Generator, and later filings refer to it as the ThermiRF System, previously named the Symphony RF System. The generator is a 20 W monopolar unit built on a radiofrequency delivery device first cleared for Smith and Nephew. A sensor in the electrode reads tissue temperature and the generator adjusts output to hold a set point, with the screen showing set and actual temperature, impedance, procedure time and error codes.

The platform runs two kinds of electrodes. Percutaneous cannula electrodes, sold as Thermi Injectable RF electrodes, are placed under the skin for the procedure Thermi calls ThermiTight. They come in lengths of 5 to 20 cm, exposed tips of 5 to 10 mm and 16 to 20 gauge, and they ship sterile for single use. Transcutaneous electrodes glide over the skin for ThermiSmooth and, with a dedicated handpiece, for ThermiVa. The original external electrode was the 10 mm RFE-10-D, and a 2017 clearance added the 15 mm RFE-15-D. Every treatment also uses a grounding pad. ThermiTight, ThermiSmooth and ThermiVa are procedure names on this one generator, not separate machines. US clearance is for electrocoagulation and hemostasis in dermatological and general surgical procedures and for creating lesions in nervous tissue.

Thermi was acquired by Celling Biosciences in 2019 and moved to Austin. Its current generator is the ThermiRF+, which offers 20 W and 50 W settings and a smart chip that identifies the attached electrode. A unit labeled Symphony RF or ThermiRF without the plus is the earlier 20 W generator.

A buyer will ask for the label photo, which reusable electrodes and handpieces come with the generator, the footswitch, the cables, and whether you have sealed injectable electrodes and grounding pads, since the percutaneous work depends on them.
