Ultherapy PRIME is the second generation console for the Ulthera System, Merz Aesthetics' micro-focused ultrasound platform. FDA cleared it on February 22, 2024 under K233996 as the Ulthera System (UC-1 Control Unit PRIME). That 510(k) states the ultrasound signal energy is identical to the earlier console; what changed was the industrial design, the interface and some end-of-life hardware. Merz announced the launch on September 23, 2024, with a European, Middle East and Africa launch in January 2025.
The PRIME console has an 18.5 inch 16:9 touchscreen at 1920 by 1080, runs Windows 10 and weighs up to 27 lb. Software 2.1.2030 came with the first clearance. K243035, cleared in February 2025, added skin laxity on the abdomen and the front and back of the arms. K250418, cleared in May 2025 for UC-1 Control Unit PRIME Model 2.1, brought software 2.1.6400, Wi-Fi through a USB adapter and a planning mode called SEE.PLAN.TREAT. K260618 added the knees in May 2026 with no hardware or software change.
PRIME uses the UH-2 DeepSEE handpiece and the same six DeepSEE transducers listed in its instructions for use: DS 10-1.5, DS 10-1.5N, DS 7-3.0, DS 7-3.0N, DS 7-4.5 and DS 4-4.5. The first figure is frequency in MHz and the second is focal depth in millimeters, so every transducer treats at 1.5, 3.0 or 4.5 mm and images to 8 mm. A UR-1 cart and UP-1 work surface pad are optional.
A buyer will want a photo of the software version screen, which shows whether the Model 2.1 update is installed. Treatment lines are metered: the screen shows each transducer's remaining lines against its total capacity, and a transducer at zero must be replaced. Record each transducer's remaining lines and expiration date, include the UK-1 access key and any Wi-Fi adapter, check the tilting display hinge, and photograph the serial label.
